The WSOP is done this year and as most of you already know I got a
pretty descent pay day in the Main Event where I got all the way to Day 8
where I busted on the second hand with 88 against A10 and 27th place
was the end of the story.
To go deep in the Main Event has always been a dream of mine since the
day I started playing poker. I remember when I watched Chris Moneymaker
won the WSOP ME and I read about it over two pages in Norway’s biggest
newspaper. I cut that article and set my goal here in life!
Of
course I didn’t manage to go all the way this year, but when I have
experienced the lack of quality in this tournament, I will definitely
play it seriously from now on! The past years it’s almost been like I
wanted to get it over with and get on the first flight out of there! But
I can promise you that it will be no more like that in the future!
I
feel like I played really, really solid poker the first six days of the
Main Event, but was very unlucky that I woke up sick on Day 7, totally
like a wreck. This messed up my concentration on Day 7, I did some small
mistakes here and there, which I hadn’t done the previous days, and it
quite bothered me when Day 7 came to an end that I had least chips of
all players left… I have to mention that I was quite lucky to make it to
Day 8, considering the fact that I split two pots with A5 vs. A9 and AJ
vs. AK. So in fact Day 8 was just a bonus for me!
The strangest
thing in this tournament was that my pulse never got higher than 100
when I was playing! Usually I feel the pulse rising when I play big
pots, at least at the start of the days, but not in this one! It was
very nice having that feeling, but at the same time a bit strange that
my body doesn’t react for instance when I check-raised a guy to 1.2
million on the turn, holding only Queen high!
The fact that both
me and William (Thorsson) did great was awesome, it kind of makes
things easier when you are two. The fact that the two of us never
earlier have cashed in the same tournament is also quite extraordinary
since we have played like a hundred mutual tournaments and never cashed
in the same one before!!!
Now it just feels good to be back in
Norway again! I have missed it! But after being home for like 2-3 days, I
feel like I really miss the SUN again!!
I just gonna take it
easy for the rest of the summer. I am going for a trip to Arendal and I
am going to a friend’s wedding in Sweden, but the main goal is to relax
and enjoy the last two months before things are going tom change big
time here!
Have a lovely summer everybody, enjoy the summer time
and let those flops have some peace!
