The World Poker Challenge begins today at the Grand Sierra
Resort in Reno, Nevada. The first tournament is a $2,000 added no-limit
hold’em tournament with a $200 buy-in. The tournament series will
feature 25 preliminary events and a $5,000 championship that runs from
Mar. 14-15. A dozen events in Reno will have Card Player Player of the Year points up for grabs. A unique feature at the 2009 World Poker Challenge
is that there will be $100,000 in total prize money added to different
tournaments spread out during the course of the tournament series.
Check out which events receive added prize money below.
Tournaments will be spread featuring no-limit and limit hold’em,
H.O.R.S.E., Omaha eight-or-better, seven-card stud eight-or-better, and
pot-limit Omaha. There will also be a LIPS
ladies tour event and a seniors event on the schedule. There will be
$340 mega satellites for the $50,000 added no-limit hold’em event with
a $3,000 buy-in held on Mar. 9-11 at 4 p.m. and an additional one at 7
p.m. on Mar. 11. There will also be $340 mega satellites for the $5,000
no-limit hold’em championship held on Mar. 12-13 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
