The real fun is about to start

Posted by Johnny Lodden 16/07/10

I’m in bed now, but not so tired because of some redbulls with a little something extra at the end of the day ;)
I thought I should write something about the WSOP Main Event since I know it’s a lot of you who follow my progress!

I started the day with 1,6 million and a great table with only 205 players left, I had second most chips on the table and with an aggressive chip leader to my right, I had no problems. To put myself in respect I re-raised him the first hand of the day with a8. Fop: TT4 and he check folded and muttered something about this could be a rough day for him ;)

Unfortunately this table had to break quite fast, but the next table wasn’t so bad either. I tried to stay pretty calm on the new table, where I saw several aggressive players and a lot of 3 betting preflop. After a couple of rounds with no action I look down on two aces and raises to 51k on 10-20k blinds, a tilted 1,5mill stack calls me (I’m playing around 2 mill).

Flop: 47J, I bet 80k – call
Turn: 6,  I bet 190k – call
River: Q, I could check here since many hands won’t pay me off, but I know I have a pretty loose image and this guy is tilted, so I bid 310k, he calls quite fast and mucks when I show AA. After this I build up to 3 mills before something bad happens.

Some dude raises to 60k (12-24k blinds) I call in mid pos with QQ since I’ve been super active since the AA hand, so people know I raise with all good hands, so nobody would put me on two queens with just a call. Behind me there were 5 players with less than 1m and one player with 2,3 mills, so the plan was that hopefully one of the short stacks would squeeze to win the pot, but unfortunately the 2,3mill dude raises to 450k. FFS is my first thought, but I can’t fold and puts him all in. He thinks for about 30 sec, so I know he doesn’t have AA, I then ask if he has kings, unfortunately the answer is yes, and a blank table moves me down to about 600k.

After this I anted a bit and shoved all in with Q7, K8, KJ and 9T, but no calls. This was no kind of panic pushes, but the 4 best hands I got in 50 hands. So I had to try.

After this table I was seated next to William (Thorson) with a giga stack!
One of the first hands I look down on 66, an aggressive player raise to 90k and I push, luckily he folds.. Next hand I have AA, and the same dude raises again, and I re-raise before he moves all in, I call and boom! Back to 1,7 mills. After this things calmed a bit down, but I picked up some blinds now and then and ended the day at 2,1 mills. With only 79 players left and an average about 3 mills it’s looking quite good with some serious money at the end ;)
